How to lead an AI Transformation
It’s estimated that 40% of leading businesses face extinction in the next 10 years.
Due in large part to rapid Technology innovation & increasing competition from sections of the market not traditionally seen as competition.
AI Transformation for many will not just be desirable, it will be Vital.
On the Data & AI live show yesterday I was joined by Richard Sargeant of Boston Consulting Group who spoke about how to lead AI Transformations.

If you haven’t got time to watch or listen then here are the key takeaways
◾️ “Never Waste a Crisis”
Transformations can be powered by threat better than they can by opportunity. Lean into the crisis and how critical it is to the organisations survival and use it to fuel & drive the program.
◾️ Culture Change:
– Tech enabled leaders in key leadership roles in the organisation.
– Devolved decision making throughout the org
– Focus on optimising Supply of & Access to Data in the organisation
◾️ Change Operating Model:
– Do away with long siloed verticals in the organisation.
– Flatter & Fatter structure.
– Don’t separate the tech teams that Build & Run.
◾️ Change Strategy:
– AI is not a Technology Issue. It is a Business Issue. This philosophy and strategy must come from the top.
– Root the ‘Why’ of Transformation around a business imperative rather than the FOMO on a new technology.
AI Ethics
Many organisations spend most of their time on the corporate red tape of producing philosophical principals & guidelines around AI. Whilst of some importance they rarely are practical enough to help Data Science teams on the ground.
A greater focus is needed on the practical.
How confident are you in the accuracy & quality of data being used in your models?
How rigorously are your AI systems being trained & tested?
Ensure you are optimising your tooling & procedures with a focus on these questions.
